Electricity comes from other planets

I've grown to truly enjoy the challenge of one layer cards, so when my husband gave me the craft prompt of "the Whole World in Your Hands," I was reminded of the fun I had with the Less is More "Splatters" challenge & created this hopeful card with a color combo directly inspired by the original Gay Pride Flag.

I started by making a frame mask for the outer border from scrap cardstock; I did the same for the circle piece. I used both the circle & its negative to mask the sections of the center image. I used bright Blue ink & dark Navy inks to create the  background, . I used Pine Green pigment ink & blue embossing powder for the Earth element. I used a  coffee-stain TH stencil to create the ocean. The rainbow rays are stamped with watermark ink & heat-embossed it the beautiful colors in my stash. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps & is heat-embossed in a glittery white powder; I purposefully let some of the powder remain on the background. This is a keeper, like equal rights!

Enjoy the Mess

It's one layer week at Less is More; Clean & Simple stamping is such a skill, and I feel more confident with every try. That being said, clean & crisp isn't really my style so I like to get a bit artsy with it! Here's a Father's Day card I made for my Brother-in-law.

I used 3 inks: Memento Tuxedo Black, SU! Barely Banana, and QuickQuotes Coral. The splatter, smudge, and sentiment stamps are from a Recollections "Color Splash" set. I spritzed the stamps to create a messy effect. I used my index finger to stamp the prints, and doodled on them with a fine black pen. Super easy & fun to make!

Masked & Splashed

I've been working on my inking skills, and nothing tests them like a one-layer card! I was inspired some great challenges (see below).

The stamps are from CAS-ual Fridays. I used strips of paper as masks to create the stripes; I also used masking for the circle stamps. I punch a circle to create a mask for the filled-in circles. The sentiment is embossed with a ZING! powder. The blue ink is from Hampton Art; the coral chalk ink is from Quick Quotes. The darkish yellow is Mustard Seed distress ink from Ranger. I'm really pleased how this came out, and am especially pleased that I didn't get ink on the rest of the card!

Ballsy

I so enjoyed the color combo at House That Stamps Built that I just had to use it, although I thought about for so long that I missed the challenge deadline! But I just can't pass up an opportunity to use my Tim Holtz stain stencil (inked in Antique Linen) along with the Amazeballs stamp set from CAS-ual Fridays.

Rude Rabbits

This isn't an original idea; I know I've seen it before, but I just couldn't help myself!

The grass was stamped in an olive green distress ink & a light green chalk ink, using a rubber stamp from my stash.  The chocolate bunny & Peeps, from a Miss Kate's Cuttables' "Easter Candy" set, were cut from shiny papers on my Silhouette Cameo. I used clear alphabet stamps to stamp the sentiment onto wood veneer speech bubbles. Super-simple and fun!

Bloom with Love

One of the first stamp sets I owned was a collection based on works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art. I don't use it very often, as they don't stamp as well as other rubber stamps, but I thought this would be perfect for a one-layer card. This particular stamp is based on a set of 18th-century German playing cards. The sentiment is one of my favorites from Clear Art Stamps.

Simply Noted

We've had odd weather this year; It was so warm in December that the spring flowers started blooming! Now we have snow, but the birds are acting like it's springtime. This card was inspired the robins in the snow in our background.

I used my bird stamps from Art Impressions' "Fronts & Backs" line to make this one-layer card.

I stamped the birds & sentiment in QuickQuotes brown chalk ink, and colored the birdies with colored pencils. The sentiment on the second line is actually made of two stamps! I drew the lines with a colored pencil. The card base is a lovely piece of book paper.

Shut the front door!

Mom treated me to this hilarious Shut the Front Door! sentiment stamp and I couldn't wait to ink it up! I also used stamps from the "Round Sentiments" set by SP & Company.

I also added a yellow, stamped star in the middle of the sentiment, and punched 3 little stars in the corner just for good measure! I think this will be a good card to send someone who has had some good news.
