Pilin' On the Snowpeople

The theme this month at Pile It On is Non-Traditional Xmas colors and/or Snowman. The only real rule is to be inspired by more than one papercrafting challenge. We're sponsored by Crafty Sentiments Designs, and I used their Mr & Mrs Snow digital stamp set.

Tree o' Cheer

I've wanted to make a Christmas Tree with my glasses die set from Memory Box since I got it some years ago, and I finally did it!
I used a double-sided adhesive sheet to make the silver mirror-like paper a sticker, before die-cutting it with my BigShot. The tiny star (Recollections punch) & toothpick were cut from the same sticker paper. The sentiment ("Heirloom Ornament" clear stamp set by Spellbinders) was heat-embossed in silver. The background patterned paper is pre-glittered. I had lots of fun making this... can you see my slight reflection in the photo‽

Cocoa Loving Cardmaker

I always have fun hopping & making cards for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers' Winter Blog Hop. This time, I tried my hand at another card featuring a favorite winter beverage, hot cocoa.

I stamped the hot cocoa scene (Imaginisce) onto kraft paper & colored it with colored pencils. I haven't done this in a while, and forgot how much fun it is! I sprayed it with AquaNet hairspray to set the pencils and make the colors pop.

The vertical strip was created with white felt & a die-cut (Pink & Main).

Coffee Loving Cardmakers' Winter Blog Hop

It's time for the Coffee Loving Cardmakers' Winter Blog Hop, and I always enjoy playing along.

Today, December 13, is National Hot Cocoa Day, so here's a celebratory card! For the front of the shaker, I used the actual pre-printed packaging that came with the stamp (Imaginisce). I filled the shaker with red star sequins, and red, white & gold microbeads.

I used more of the beautiful papers for the inside. I stamped the hot cocoa onto the message section & colored it with Copic markers.

Visions of Sugarplums 2017 Challenge: Christmas/Winter

Update: I was the lucky winner of a GC from ODB at Coffee Loving Cardmakers!

Nontraditional Holiday Zentangle -- December with the UnstampaBelles

This month at the UnstampaBelles challenge we want you to Zentangle something for a Winter Holiday, with the optional twist of Nontraditional. You can make whatever you like without using any stamps. You need to follow the twist to be considered as the DT Favorite, but you only have to follow main theme to win our prize.

I got really creative with this challenge! I made a Festivus card for my best friend. I used a fairly traditional Zentangle-inspired design for the top line of text, but I used my own doodle for the larger letters.

I created the sentiment with the font Fat Outline by PizzaDude. I doodled/filled int he letters with a fine black pen. For "season" and the black portions of the doodle in "grievances," I used a black stamp marker & heat-embossed it with a shiny black powder. It was time-consuming, but worth it!

I made the "Festivus pole" by heat-embossing a chopstick with silver powder. I used my black pen to draw little lines on the white-and-silver ribbon.

Time to Shine -- Glow-in-the-dark Shaker

Our theme this fortnight at the International Art & Soul Challenge is Lots of Sparkle. I've made plenty of Christmas cards this year, so I made a couple of Hanukkah-inspired cards (see my other card here). I'm so glad I did, because I sold this card along with a card I made in 2015 to a lovely lady who needed two Hanukkah cards. I filled the shaker portion & decorated the corners with glow-in-the-dark glitter.
All the pieces are die-cut. The sentiment is from Verve Stamps.

Simply SHINE -- Sparkle at International Art & Soul

Our theme this fortnight at the International Art & Soul Challenge is Lots of Sparkle. This challenge will run an entire month.

I used a shiny, patterned paper for the base card, with the decorated side for the back.

It's all about these beautiful, sparkly papers! The sentiment on the front (Verve Stamps) was heat-embossed in blue, and the large sentiment (Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps) was heat-embossed in silver. I die-cut the bubble strip (Pink & Main) and hand-punched the stars with a Fiskars punch. The message section was made with an SU! die; the stars are cut/embossed with a die from my stash. The corner punch (Marvy) is one of my favorite crafting tools.

Neon Holiday Wishes -- Pilin' On the Non-Traditional Holiday Colors

The theme this month at Pile It On is Non-Traditional Holiday Colors. The only real rule is to be inspired by more than one papercrafting challenge. We're sponsored by Crafty Sentiments Designs. I made a shaker card with a neon color palette.
The neon papers are from Target/Kid Made Modern; the treeline die is from Memory Box; the string of lights is from Elizabeth Crafts; and the frame & flamingo are dies from my stash. I heat-embossed the sentiment (Marianne Design) with white powder. The shaker is filled with shaped plastic confetti from Michaels/Recollections. I'm really liking the trend of bold letters on a black panel!

Skating Santa Gift Card Holder -- Buttons & Bows at International Art & Soul

Our theme this fortnight at the International Art & Soul Challenge is Buttons & Bows.

Santa, the sentiment, and the tree are from a Paper Magic set. The pretty blue bows came on Santa & the tree. I added blue thread to some buttons from my stash, and added them to Santa with Glossy accents. They work nicely to make him slide, too! I used a die from an Elizabeth Crafts set to make the slot on the card, and affixed skating Santa with a paper tab.

Peach & Lavendar Xmas - Christmas Card using non traditional colours at Crafting with Dragonflies

Our challenge this fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies is to make a Christmas Card using non traditional colors.

Do you remember the SMIRK paper line? I still have a bunch of their Christmas stuff, and although I don't use it as much as I should, I always have fun when I do. I used Copic markers for the skin, some of the hair, and a few other details to make it my own. The ornament stamp & sentiment are from the "Heirloom Ornament" clear stamp set by Spellbinders. I heated-embossed the ornament with a purple-mix powder on a piece of the SMIRK paper that already included the different background patterns & that lovely glittery stripe.

Primary Cake -- November with the UnstampaBelles

This month at the UnstampaBelles challenge we're All about the Cake! The optional twist is to use only Primary Colors. You can make whatever you like without using any stamps. You need to follow the twist to be considered as the DT Favorite, but you only have to follow main theme to win our prize.

I used the last of a sheet of Imaginisce DP for the banners and little candles; those little buggers took a while to fussy-cut, but it was worth it! Check out the little faces of some of them, too cute. I cut the pop-up cake on my Silhouette Cameo using an SVG/SCAL file I'd had for years. The blue background paper was dry-embossed with a Swiss Dots folder after cutting the middle out. I added the border on the message section with a red gel pen. The sentiment is cut with a Sizzix die from a polka dotted paper.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Hiding in my Craft Room: Use Scraps (all the papers are from my off-cut/scraps stash)
