Pilin' On the Pink

Our new theme at Pile It On is Pretty in Pink. You may enter the challenge as many times you like, as long as you are inspired by at least one other Challenge theme. We're sponsored by All Dressed Up, and I used their Happiness digi stamp.

I've wanted to make a bra card for quite a while, and I especially wanted to use a stamp like a tattoo. I used a template by Kasia.

This image worked perfectly as a tattoo! I colorized it to dark pink, printed it on a mottled pink French cardstock along with the card shape, and colored it with Copic markers. The cardstock is from my stash; I bought it in India 14 years ago! The clothing was made with red paper doilies that I heat-embossed pink. I also heat-embossed the heart-shaped brads, but in hot pink. The rose lace is from my stash; I forgot I had it, and it worked so perfectly for this project!

Monochromatic for a Child at the Crafter's Cafe

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge theme is Monochromatic for a Child, partly in celebration of National Child Awareness Month. Starting today, our challenges will run roughly 2 weeks, on the 1st & 15th days of the month. For this challenge, we're sponsored by Bugaboo and All Dressed Up Stamps, and I used A Star is Born by All Dressed Up.

I used a Sizzix Flipitz die for the card base, and a Shake It plastic piece for the shaker on front.

Get Well at Crafter's Cafe

The Crafter's Cafe Challenge this week is Get Well. I used "Little Patch Puppy" by our sponsor, All Dressed Up.

To add to the Get Well theme, the background is made of medical tape that I've saved from my dogs' last few vet appointments. It's what they use to bandage their legs after they take blood, and since the tape doesn't touch any actual blood, I couldn't resist recycling the brightly-colored tape!

The blue banner is cut from a rubber tourniquet that I saved from the last time I had blood drawn (the phlebotomist looked at me suspiciously, but once I told her I would use it for crafting she let me take it!) I heat-embossed the sentiment in neon orange.

All Dressed Up has lots of cute image, but I really enjoy paper-piecing their dog images. I used pink, yellow, and green dotted papers. I added some color with Copics, and hand-colored his cute flower-patterned ear. The little flowers are from the same digi set. I made the ribbon flower using an adhesive Glüber base.

To create the background, I wrapped the plaster tape around strips of white cardstock. I added a faux stitched border with a Pitt artist pen.

Pilin' on the Cute Animals

The theme this week at Pile It On is Cute Animal. We're sponsored by All Dressed Up Stamps, so I used their unique "Head in the Clouds" digi stamp.

I made the "and you in my heart" sentiment using the fonts Zigzag and KBAStitchInTime. In a happy coincidence, both phrases have seven parts so I could use a full rainbow color theme. The scribbly clouds were printed on a shiny white paper and pieced into the scene. I fussy cut the giraffe, colored it with Copics, covered it with an adhesive sheet, and coated it with Apricot glitter. I gave it a quick blast from my heat gun to set the glitter. I was inspired by the giraffe-oxpecker relationship and added a little wood bird that I colored to look like an red-billed oxbird. I covered the bird with glittery embossing powder.

The patterned papers are both by Recollections, and the green/kraft backing papers are from TH/Core'Dinations. I inked the edges of the patterned papers with a copper ink, and sanded the edges of the kraft pieces. I colored the giraffes with a glitter pen.

I made the banners from wood tape. I die-cut the little clouds using an IO die and my bigshot. I inked both banners with different brown inks.

Pilin' on the Puppies - Sketch Challenge at Pile It On

This week at the Pile It On Challenge we have a Sketch created by our own Katie. We're sponsored by All Dressed Up Stamps and I used their Cute Just Got Cuter digi stamp.

I printed the adorable puppy on three patterned papers & paper pieced it. I added a bit of pink to its ears with a marker. I cut the yellow piece with a Spellbinders die, and used the same die as a stencil for the white piece. Both are textured papers to look like fabric, and I added faux stitching with a Pitt artist pen.

I've had the background patterned paper for a long time. I made the sentiment using the Ahoy in Stitches font, printed it on a textured paper, and cut/embossed it with a PageMakers die. It's attached to the card with two small button-shaped brads.

Thinking of You with Pile It On

This week at Pile It On, we want to see "Thinking of You" cards/projects. I used All Wrapped Up by our sponsor, All Dressed Up Stamps:

I colored the image with Copics, fussy-cutting the girl to give it just a hint of dimension. I used the Blender Texture technique for the background, and cut it with a Spellbinders die in my BigShot.

I colored the hair last, because I couldn't decide on the color...so I asked my husband, because he always poses me with an agreeable challenge. He suggested "Light blonde...with blue streaks. A strong blue." I just love the result.

I found two stitching-and-flowers-themed papers in my stash, and edged them on my sewing machine. The yellow mesh is recycled potato packaging. The sentiment is a Starform outline sticker, colored with the same blue Copic I used for the hair.

The leaves are cut from scrap Aida (cross stitch) fabric with a Sizzix die. I cut it along with a piece of scrap cardstock for support. I then coated the pieces with Tacky white glue so that they didn't fall apart. I colored two of the leaves with a green Copic. I finished the card with a shell button, a white plastic button, and some twine.
