Flowers through the Window - Guest Desginer at Crafting by Designs

Back in June, I was super-inspired by my neighborhood and a sketch at Crafting by Designs, and was so pleased to have it chosen as a Spotlight project for that challenge as well as to be asked to be Guest Designer.

The theme this week at Crafting by Designs is Windows.

I used this beautiful digi stamp from Make It Crafty to create a Shaker Card filled with flower-shaped sequins.

My mom is visiting, and we've had tons of crafting fun. This card was made during a crafting retreat this weekend with friends at a hotel, and I didn't bring my Copics so I just used Mom's Sharpies. I'm pleased with the result and the company was fantastic! I also colored the white lace & wood embellishments with Sharpies. I added different colors of Flowersoft with Glossy Accents.

Challenges/Inspiration:
Crafting by Designs: Window
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards: A Flower In Your IMAGE
Morgan's Art World: Use 3 of Something (3 wood embellishments) + digi stamp
Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers: S is for....Shaker

Thank you for visiting & I hope you'll join us at Crafting by Designs,

Oh Boy! - Guest Designer at Crafting by Designs

I was honored to have my Heart Easel Card chosen as a Spotlight project for Crafting By Designs #62, and pleased to also be asked to Guest Design with their fabulous team for this week's challenge: Masculine Project.

This card is made with my Accordion/Fancy Label die by Karen Burniston/Elizabeth Craft Designs. I live in Baltimore, Maryland, where National Bohemian Beer is the traditional beer of choice at Baltimore Orioles baseball games. Because everything in my life has become craft-related, the last time my best friend came to visit we enjoyed some Natty Boh ... solely so I could save the cans & bottle caps! I cut the cans into metal sheets and die-cut them in my BigShot with Sizzix dies to make the funky leaves. I flattened the bottlecaps with my BigShot as well.

Keeping with the recycled theme, I cut the base of the card from a foam carry-out container. If you look closely, you can see how the die also embossed portions of the foam.

I used the City Buildings by StudioIlustrado from Silhouette for the city borders and stencils.

The sentiment is set in Buffalo Nickel from FontSpace, with special characters from Brannboll from DaFont and Pea Minjee from Fonts for Peas.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Crafting By Designs #62: Masculine
Crafty Calendar: Add some metal
Our Creative Corner: Junk in your Trunk (package foam, bottle caps, aluminum cans)
Recycle, Re-purpose, Re-invent: Recycled items
Southern Girls #106: Boys Boys Boys

Thank you for visiting, and hope you'll join us at Crafting By Designs ,

Star Spirelli

Here's a quick card I made this morning:

I was really intrigued by the "Spirelli" technique challenge at Crafting by Designs. I actually had a turquoise embroidery thread remnant (DMC Fluorescents) that was just enough for this project. I cut the starry shape with a die from a•muse studio, and used a Recollections punch for the tiny stars in the corner.

The star-shaped, music-patterned stamps are from a set that came a Crafts Beautiful Magazine; and the sentiment stamp is from a Teddy Bo set, another magazine freebie, this time from Simply Cards & Papercraft. The sentiment is heat-embossed with a yellow power from Creative Zoo. The ribbon is from my stash, and the star-patterned Kraft DP is from My Mind's Eye. I finished the card with a machine-stitched border using yellow thread.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Card Mania: Color combo
Cards in Envy: Sketch
Crafting by Designs: Spirelli

Update: This card was chosen as the winner of our Try a New Technique challenge at Crafting by Designs for the month of February! Wow!
