Pilin' on the Sparkle

The theme this fortnight at Pile It On is Sparkle. We're sponsored by Doodle Pantry. I used an image & a sentiment from their fun Super Birdie set to make this circle step card.

I colored this little bluebird of happiness with Copic markers, and added some blue Sparkly Fluff with a ZIG glue pen.

Horsey Hello

This week at Pile It On! we're focusing on Animals. January 31st begins the Chinese Year of the Horse, and I couldn't resist using this hilarious Saddle Up digi stamp and the corresponding Hay Bale digi set from Doodle Pantry.

I wanted a "model" for the horse, so I decided to color it based on Jubilee, the new horse of Chris, the coordinator at Paper Playful. I really enjoy working with Chris, and have enjoyed hearing stories about this beauty. You can see photos of Jubilee here on Chris's blog

The horse, pre-colored hay bale, sentiment, and backing papers are all from Doodle Pantry. The woodgrain paper are scraps of an October Afternoon DP. I colored the horse with Copics, and used a texturizing effect with Blender Solution on the background. The faux stitching on the sentiment banner was done with a TEKwriter gel pen.

For the background, I colored drywall tape with a gold leafing pen, and added some twine as well. The little metal horseshoe is actually a prong snap button, but I cut off the little prongs and attached it with Glossy Accents.

Autumn Door

This week at Pile It On, we're "piling on" the theme of Leaves. Our sponsor is Doodle Pantry, so I used their Autumn Star digi stamp pack:
I used Memory Box's Small Madison Window die for the door window, and the embossed/cut-out pieces for the bottom of the door. This worked so well on a 3 x 6 card base (Core'dinations shiny white). I inked the edges with Antique Linen distress ink. The "knob" is a hitch fastener from Tim Holtz Idea-ology.

The stars are separate layers, and I printed the bow separately on red mulberry paper. The image is colored with Copics, and I used Aida cloth and blender solution to texture the stars. The berry-bits are colored with Sakura gel & glaze pens.

The leaves on the door & inside the card were cut on my Bigshot with Tim Holtz Alterations' Fall Garland die from paper covered with Rolo foil.

Challenges:
A.R.T. Card Challenge #16: Anything Goes
Country View Crafts' Challenge: Layers
Crafter's Cafe #30: Diecuts/Punches
Crafting By Designs: Anything goes
House of Gilli: Anything Goes/Fall

Update: This received an Honorable Mention for A.R.T. Card Challenge #16. Thank you!

Yumminess at Pile It On

I love being sponsor coordinator for Pile It On, and the Design Team helps me a lot with picking themes & sponsors. This week, for example, our great sponsor Doodle Pantry was coordinated by teamie Elizabeth. She picked the great theme of Oh Yummy! and got us some adorable images to work with. Love my team!

I used the Strawberry Ants set by Doodle Pantry, which has lots of elements and both black & white and pre-colored digis. For this card, I used a sentiment, a line image (I really considered using the pre-colored version of this image, but I couldn't pass up an opportunity to use my Copics!), and one of the digi papers.

I've had these ant buttons in my stash for... well, years, no doubt. I was so excited to receive them, but I've had limited opportunity to use them. I used DMC Fluorescent embroidery floss to sew the buttons directly onto the card base. For the stitched border, I used the template I made for my Chocolate Kisses card.

Inspiration/Challenges:
  1. Crafty Catz: All Stitched Up
  2. Crafty Creations #212: Green
  3. Delightful Challenges: Button, Bling & Embellish (Ant buttons, Glitter & Glaze pens, popped flower embellishment)
  4. Digital Tuesday #200: Buttons or Bling + a digital element
  5. Doodle Pantry Challenge #32: Use a Doodle Pantry image
  6. Wags 'n Whiskers: Go Green
