Pilin' On the Scraps

The theme this fortnight at Pile It On is Scraps/Offcuts. We're sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs.

I made this Halloween card using scraps from my Halloween stash. I'm glad I kept some of those smaller pieces!

I was inspired by Lori Whitlock's clever take on a pop up box card, and used the basic directions for a Z-fold card that I found here.
I used glow-in-the-dark paint to cover the gray areas on the paper strip. I stamped the sentiment on patterned paper & heat-embossed it with neon green powder. The cute characters were cut from a designer paper. I finished the card with a glittery skull sticker.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Cardz 4 Guyz #143: Kinetic Card (card with some movement)
Inky Chicks #74: Too Cute To Spook
Mod Squad Challenge: Halloween
Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes (2nd entry)
The Stamping Boutique: Pumpkins

Spots & Stripes at Crafting with Dragonflies

Our theme this fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies, chosen by teammate Helen, is Spots & Stripes.

I recently won a gift certificate Bugaboo Stamps for participating in the "A Stitch in Time" challenge at Crafting by Designs, and I could hardly wait to use their cute Birthday Ewe Circle Sentiment. I printed it twice on white & on orange & green papers. I fussy-cut the pieces to create a layered look. I decorated the Ewe with flocking & Flowersoft. I colored the image with Copic markers & covered the balloons with Glossy Accents.

The card is made from orange & green linen papers. I created the edge with fringe scissors. I decorated the front with heat-activated puff paint to create a sheep-like dotted background.

The balloon was made with Fuse paper, a piece of page protector plastic, and my Fuse tool. I filled it with plastic confetti.

A different edge, outside your comfort zone, with the UnstampaBelles

The UnstampaBelles October challenge is Outside Your Comfort Zone with the twist of a different edge. You can make whatever you like without using any stamps.

I ended up trying my hand — literally, as I get hand cramps with this kind of fine work — at hand-embroidered string art. I bought template from Helen at Let's Create. It's worth it, but it takes forever! I made fairly CAS card for a Halloween Wedding anniversary.

Be sure to check out the fabulous projects by my teammates and hope you'll join us this month at UnstampaBelles!

Pilin' On the Food/Drink

The theme this fortnight at Pile It On is Food/Drink. We're sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs. The artist, Heather, has so many cute food & drink related images in her great collection.

I used Lil Sweetie's Latte to make my first Twist Gate Fold card.

I attached the sentiment (Lynette Anderson Taylor) with a glittered brad so that it also works as a closure. I made the tags with decorative scissors. The inside sentiment is from a Stampin' Up! set.  I put a white message section on the back panel.

The burlap-patterned papers are from Recollections/Michaels. I inked them with bronze chalk ink. I colored the image with Copics, and used heat-activated puff paint on the cupcake.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Crafter's Cafe #159: Use a new technique (Twist Gate Fold card)
Daring Cardmakers: (5 challenges only) Seriously Monochromatic
House of Cards : Gatefold Card

Update: This made the Top 5 at House of Cards!
