Classic Housing -- Guest Designer at Stick It Down

My steampunk accordion card was chosen as the Card Sketch favorite for the February challenge at Stick It Down, and I was invited to be a guest designer for their April Sketch Challenge!

This card was inspired by evenings spent crafting at our local library. The patterned paper is wallpaper that I got at one of their open crafting nights, and I used a technique that mimics Vinegar Painting, which I learned about there as well.

The frame and house are wood veneer pieces, and I heat-embossed the house with burgundy powder. The corners are cut with a Crafter's Companion die. The sentiments are stamps from my stash.

I used alcohol inks and rubbing alcohol to create the Vinegar Painting-inspired portions, using paint samples that we were given at the library demonstration.

Thank you for visiting, and hope you'll try one of the sketches at Stick It Down!

Here's Looking at You - Vellum or Acetate with the UnstampaBelles

Our theme this month at the UnstampaBelles challenge is Vellum or Acetate, with the optional twist of create a new view/something new to look at. You need to follow the twist to be considered as the DT Favorite, but you only have to follow main theme to win our prize.

I tried my hand at a mini blind card. For the mini blind, I started with a vellum that was embedded with a few tiny sequins. I inked one side with pink archival ink from Sweet Stamps, then set it with a layer of heat-embossed glitter. I used the same technique for the bottom layer of the border.

The border was made with Pink&Main dies. The background paper is actually a wallpaper sample; it almost looks like a scene! The sentiment is a gold sticker. The image in the "window" is from Graphic45.

Update: This was chosen as a favorite for the challenge including the twist for 613 Avenue Create Challenge #208!

Little Pleasures -- Die cuts and/or Punches with Crafting with Dragonflies

Our challenge this fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies is Die cuts and/or Punches.

I always enjoy making golf-themed cards! The stamps are from the Ants on the Green set from G-Rated Rubberstamps. The golf cart & tiny flag is from a Memory Box die set. I die-cut the square and circle. I embossed the golf ball circle with my Swiss Dots folder, and stamped the small sentiment between the dots. The backing papers are textured cardstocks from CoreiDinations. I finished the card with some ribbon & a strip of mesh that came as garlic packaging!

Update: This was a favorite at Die Cuttin' Divas!

Happy Birthday Display Card Type -- Try something new at International Art & Soul

Our theme this fortnight at the International Art & Soul Challenge, chosen by DT member CG (that's me!), is Card type you haven't tried before. I tried my hand at an Altered Double Display Card.

All the patterned papers are from Imaginisce. I made a magnetic belly band. Both the chipboard hat & the sentiment on the balloon are from Latina Crafter.
The cake was made from shiny white paper & vellum (for the frosting) using my newest die set purchase from A.C. Moore! The "flame" sentiment was heat-embossed in orange. The larger balloons were cut with an Elizabeth Craft Designs die; the smaller balloons are pre-cut die cuts from Scrapbook Attic.
