Gone Fishin' with OSAAT

This week at One Stitch at a Time (OSAAT), our theme is Anything Goes. StitchyBear's Digi Outlet has hundreds of digital products from many wonderful artists, and if you use one of our products you'll be entered to win the super-duper June prize pack of 7 digis. If you don't use a store image, you'll still be in the drawing to win a $3 gift certificate.

My teamie CraftyGirl chose this fun set for us to work with, Fishn with Ole Rover Stamp Pack #2 by Reece's Scrap Pieces, so I made this Shadowbox card:

I used the Shadowbox Card tutorial at Splitcoast Stampers, but I changed dimensions to 4.25 inches tall by 7.5 wide, scoring each long end at .75 and 1.25 inches. I cut the hole with a PageMaps die on my BigShot. The green base and blue background are Core'Dinations cardstocks. All the patterned papers, including the paper-pieced overalls, are by SMIRK. Mom sent me the actual fishing net as well as this adorable fishing pole sticker from Little B.

I colored this adorable image with Copics, using the Blender Texture technique for Ole Rover's fur. The sentiment is from the same Reece's Scrap Pieces set; I inked it with my Antique Linen distress ink pad and filled in the letters with a black PITT pen and a Sakura glitter pen.

Here's the back with a message section:

Dude Time Doodles November Holidays Challenge, Card #2

Happy Saturday everyone. With only 3 more days to enter the Dude Time Doodles November Holidays Challenge, I thought I'd give you a little extra inspiration! Be sure to hop on over and check out the beautiful DT projects for this challenge, if you haven't already.

The first card I made inspired by this challenge was a Thanksgiving card, so I wanted to make a card for another, lesser-known November Holiday, "Stay at Home because You are Well Day"! I used the Hammock Harold set from Dude Time Doodles, a digi from Create with TLC, and some funky papers from 7 Gypsies to make this Shadow Box Card:
 And the back:
Here's a view from the top:

I'm working on wedding invitations (130! Holy Crap!) for my husband's cousin, so I won't be doing much blogging for the rest of November. But check in every Wednesday for a new Dude Time Doodles Challenge! I'm having such a great time being a guest designer with them.

Take a cue from Hammock Harold, and have a great day!

Celebrating Autumn

I was introduced to Shadowbox cards by the Stampin' Dymonz Scrap Shack Cardmaking Group, and this is my second attempt (here's my first). I thought it would be a great way to combine this wonderful Fall Fence image by Shelly's Images with the whimsical Fall by Karen's Doodles.

Also also used a couple of leaf freebies from Shelly's Images, which I imported into SCAL (my cutting software). I "printed" them on my Cricut Expression using a brown Cricut marker, then used it with the blade to cut them out (I created a "shadow" layer in SCAL).

Here it is folded closed, and here it is pulled open:
You can see that the fence moves to the right. There's also a braided hemp rope going over the right fold. I also ran my embossing tool over the "veins" on the leaves. Dr Sonia and others have really been inspiring me to try that, and it does look good!

Here's the back, with this sweet First Day of Fall image from TLC Creations:

Birthday Shadow-box Card

I had so much fun making my Charlie Chaplin-esque Shadowbox card that I turned right around and made another, inspired by the freebie challenge at CDAC/A Day for Daisies and the Birthdays theme at iCopic.

I also used up some punch-fruits I had left over from my Picnic card. As you can see in the close-up on the right, the cherries are glazed with Glossy Accents and the stem is two-tone baker's twine.

The challenge at A Day for Daisies is to celebrate reaching 300 members on CDAC (congrats! I'm one of them!) They're offering 3 freebies to choose from; the only requirement is that you share whatever you make with the freebie you grab. I couldn't resist playing with this lovely Happy Birthday Tower; the message cards come blank, so I added text & fills myself. This is fairly easy to do, especially with the help of the wonderfully comprehensive Digital Paper Piecing tutorial at Snappy Stampin' with Arielle.

Trouble-Free

The challenge this week at Mo's Digital Pencil is "Black and white with one contrasting color." A perfect opportunity to use The Tramp by Mo Manning herself. I'm loving everyone's take on this challenge.

I made a Shadow-box card, which I learned about through the Stampin' Dymonz Cardmaking group. The oval is traced from a plastic template and hand-cut.

I was also inspired by Crafty Ann's Dry Embossing challenge. The black and white pieces were embossed on my Sizzix; the paper for the back (photo on the right) was pre-embossed.
