Pilin' on the Primary Sport

Our theme at Pile It On is Primary Colors and/or Something Beginning with "S". The only really rule is to be inspired by more than one papercrafting challenge. We're sponsored by KennyK Stamps, and I used their "Need For Speed" Race Car Driver digi stamp.

KennyK Stamps has closed its doors on June 30, 2017. We have had such fun working with the team here at Pile It On and loved seeing all the wonderful cards and talent by the DT and those that have entered the challenges! We wish you all the best and are happy to sponsor one last time!! If you have any questions about our closing you can read our FAQ here or email us at stamps@kennykstamps.com. Rock Your Crafts with KennyK Stamps!

I created a Soccer-themed penny slider card, using circle dies and die-cut cardboard circles instead of actual pennies.

Bronze, Bark & Butterflies -- Vintage/Shabby Chic at Crafting with Dragonflies

Our theme this fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies we're making Vintage/Shabby Chic Cards.

The background was created with a mix of the embossing folder stamping & emboss resist techniques, using a folder I got with a magazine. The Prima butterflies are made from actual tree bark! The vertical border is cut from a cork sheet with a QuicKutz die. The top horizontal strip is a piece of TH grunge board cut with a Spellbinders/A Gilded Life die, inked with Tea Due distress ink & heat-embossed with Stampendous copper enamel. The middle strip was created with the faux patina technique. For the bottom strip, I started by stamping the border, from the same set as the embossing folder, in brown StazOn. Then I inked it with orange & brown inks, and stamped it again with watermark ink & heat-embossed it with more copper enamel. The sentiment stamp & frame die are from Stampin' Up. Most of the pieces are distressed with my Ingvild Bolme/Prima distressing tool and the edges are ink-distressed with TH Vintage Photo ink.

I'm entering this card into the following fabulous challenges:
Come and Get It: Make Your Own Background
Country View Crafts' Challenge: Things with Wings
Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge: Distress It

Happy 8th Blogoversary!

I started this blog in July 2009 as way to share my cooking adventures, but I ended up finding the joys of cardmaking, and joined the online crafting community whole-heartedly in June 2010. By December 2010, I had made it to my 100th post, and now I've published over 1287 posts!

This means it's time for Blog Candy! This year I'm offering a small grab-bag of delicious craft items. I've set aside some of my favorite crafting items, and will tailor the package to the winner.

I hope you'll follow my blog (there are some links on my sidebar) and leave a comment so I can visit you. To my long-time followers, thank you so much!

Update: Everyone's a winner!

Here's to many more,

Rain or Shine - Every Day is Special & Colorful with the UnstampaBelles

The UnstampaBelles July challenge is Every Day is Special with the optional twist of lots of color. You can make whatever you like without using any stamps.

I created a shaker with a window die-cut from my stash, some cardboard, patterned paper, and acetate. I left the middle bar when cutting the cardboard to create 2 sections inside the shaker, filled each portion with plastic confetti (Recollections). The doves are from the Birds of Earth & Sky die set from Cheery Lynn Designs, and the flamingo die came free with a magazine; both are cut from glittery papers. The banner is embossed/cut with a Spellbinders banner die & edged with yellow ink. The sentiment is a gold foil sticker (Elizabeth Craft). The base card is from my stash; it was a 4 x 12 piece that was folded in half, so I adapted it into this fold. Fun to give new life to old, forgotten projects!

Inspiration/Challenges:
Connie Can Crop #60: Use Your Stash (all papers from my stash)
Crafting with Dragonflies: Punches and Dies
Pause Dream Enjoy #179: Summer Fun (Optional Theme: Fun Fold Cards)

Update: Wow! This card was chosen for the Top 3 for Connie's Stash Challenge!

Be sure to check out the fabulous projects by my teammates the UnstampaBelles!

Super Baby -- Pilin' on the Primary Colors

Our theme at Pile It On is Primary Colors (Red, Yellow, Blue). The only real rule is to be inspired by more than one papercrafting challenge. We're sponsored by KennyK Stamps.

I made this Pop Up Box Card for my BIL's family, who are expecting their third girl. The star of the show is the Baby Kaboom digi stamp by KennyK Stamps, hidden within the fold of card, and the other super hero images are from Melonheadz Illustrating. The papers are all from the "Comic Heroes" paper pack from Recollections.

The circle on the flap on the back is a quote from the song "Power of Love" left-over from a card I made two years ago! The sentiment on the front is a sticker. The buildings were were with a Memory Box die.All the images are on Action Wobbles.
