In the pink, with a little help from my friends

So my sister-in-law just got engaged to the most wonderful man, so we have a new niece (his sweet daughter). I made a card for her upcoming birthday, very similar to the one I made for our niece in July, but I wanted to include something for both of them (like I did last time). Let's face it, this is just an excuse for me to craft something!

I wanted to try my hand at a Flag Book, inspired by Extreme Cards & PaperCrafting. The card features digis from Tellen's Place Designs and Karen's Doodles. I also couldn't resist adding some ruby heat-embossing.

I added photos, although I'm not including them in these pictures:

Our dogs are black and white; the parents of our black dog live with the recipients of this card & are also black and white. For the white one I simply added white flocking. For the black one, I colored it with black and dark gray Copics and then went over it with the Colorless Blender to bring back the highlights.

Copics: RV11, RV23, RV02, R35, 100, C-7, 0, E000, E50, YR01, E17,E37, E35, E13, YR12, YG03, YG63, G02, B39, B18, FB2, B23, B32, B00, B0000, FRV1

Have a great day everyone!

Andy reading, Andy tired; Andy take a little snooze

Matt Hawkins of Custom Papertoys made this most-groovy homage to Warhol, Paper Pop, and has the template on his site for free! Oh it's so fun to make.

Being me, I sized it down to about 3.5 inches high, so some of the smaller pieces (like that fantastic nose!) were a little difficult to get in place. Thank goodness for reverse tweezers!

I actually made this is January, but recently I ran across these tiny origami books at Extreme Cards & Papercrafting and just had to give Andy some reading material! I made the books from 2x2 pieces of paper torn from a magazine.

The book in the foreground was actually made from a Post-it. Let me know if you try either of these projects!

Last-minute Greetings

This week's Aud Sentiments and Allsorts challenges pretty much sum up how my house looks right now: Happy Holidays and Last Minute Christmas!

My creative life was changed forever when I discovered the world of origamic architecture, and it was further changed by my discovery of the pop-out pencil holder at Extreme Cards & Papercrafting. Using her template, I created my own version in SCAL. I had precut 7 yellow houses on my Cricut, so when I realized I needed some special cards for family all I had to do was glue on some pretty paper! The little cards on the front are hand stamped and punched; I also made small yellow message stickers for the inside.

Supplies: DCWV, Martha Stewart and Recollections cardstocks, gStudio silicon stamps, Stash brads, CraftSmart ink, Fiskars scissors & punch, Cricut personal cutter, SCAL2 software, Offray ribbon

Happy Holidays! You can download the
personal use only cutting file for this card here.
If you do, please leave a comment to let me know. And I'd love to see photos!
