Flickering Lights with the UnstampaBelles

The UnstampaBelles December challenge is Flickering Lights with the twist of Include a candle. You can make whatever you like without using any stamps.

Usually around the holidays, I try my hand at more 3D projects. You may remember my sparkly gingerbread house I made for last year's UnstampaBelles December Challenge; This year, I used a cut file from SVG Cutting Files.

The string of lights is a free vector file, and I made the windows & candles in SCAL; I cut everything on my Silhouette Cameo. The wreath (Elizabeth Craft) & the bottom border (QuicKutz) were cut with my BigShot. The light backgrounds were cut from a shiny silver paper. The bulbs were cut from white cardstock; before removing the paper from the mat after cutting, I colored the bulbs with markers & painted them with glow-in-the-dark paint.

Challenges:
Lawnscaping: Christmas/Holiday
We Love 2 Create: Anything Creative/Mixed Media Goes

Be sure to check out the fabulous projects by my teammates and hope you'll join us this month at UnstampaBelles!

Pilin' On Two Patterns

The theme this fortnight at Pile It On is Two Patterns (or 2 patterned papers). We're sponsored by Sami Stamps. I used Sami's adorable Christmas Sweater Bear along with one of the many loose sweater die cuts I have after a recent project. This is my first card using this Fold-a-long die set from Sizzix/Jen Long; so easy & fun!

The image is colored with Copic markers. I used ZIG glue pens to add white flocking to all the sweater bits. For the bear's sweater, I "piled" the flocking with a pencil eraser.

Resistance with the UnstampaBelles

The UnstampaBelles November challenge is Resistance with the twist of a Explain how you've used the resist technique. You can make whatever you like without using any stamps.

I wanted to try something new-to-me, so I made these glue & alcohol ink plastic eggs:

Basically, I just doodled on a plastic egg with glue. Then I colored it with alcohol inks (Copic marker refills), peeled off the glue, and viola!

Be sure to check out the fabulous projects by my teammates and hope you'll join us this month at UnstampaBelles!

Pilin' On the Thanks

The theme this fortnight at Pile It On is Thankful / Thank You. I tried my hand at a Twist & Pop card.

The sentiment is from Doodle Pantry's "So Mustache" set. I printed it on white paper and then made a background with a mustache stamp in Antique Linen distress ink. I used another mustache from the same set (Recollections) to stamp the "brackets" around the sentiment. I added black flocking with a ZIG glue pen.

The bottom portion of the card is decorated with strips of mustache-patterned washi tape, and an orange die-cut border.

I made the bellyband with scrap kraft paper & orange burlap ribbon. The mustache cut file is from Bea Original. I actually found it under my table LOL, it fell out of my stash box at some point. I inked it black, drew lines on it with a glue pen, and covered it with black flocking.

I was inspired by cute photos of our toddler nephews with little mustaches drawn on their cute faces. Sorry those photos aren't included online for privacy reasons, but this design calls for 4 panels on the inside, so I added photos of myself with a fake mustache (part of a Ravens football fan thing some years ago) and my husband with his natural beauty! I made this card as a thank-you to the boys' parents. Also, November is Movember, a time to raise awareness for men's health issues, so this theme seemed timely!

Inspiration/Challenges:
Crafty Gals Corner: Use a Sentiment
Creative Corner: Thank You
Dragonfly Journeys: #79 A Thankful Heart
Fab 'n' Funky: Get Krafty
Left of Center Creative Challenges: #156 Inspired By... (mustaches)
Love to Scrap: Fancy Folds + stamping

Pilin' On the Scraps

The theme this fortnight at Pile It On is Scraps/Offcuts. We're sponsored by Fresh Brewed Designs.

I made this Halloween card using scraps from my Halloween stash. I'm glad I kept some of those smaller pieces!

I was inspired by Lori Whitlock's clever take on a pop up box card, and used the basic directions for a Z-fold card that I found here.
I used glow-in-the-dark paint to cover the gray areas on the paper strip. I stamped the sentiment on patterned paper & heat-embossed it with neon green powder. The cute characters were cut from a designer paper. I finished the card with a glittery skull sticker.

Inspiration/Challenges:
Cardz 4 Guyz #143: Kinetic Card (card with some movement)
Inky Chicks #74: Too Cute To Spook
Mod Squad Challenge: Halloween
Simon Says Stamp: Anything Goes (2nd entry)
The Stamping Boutique: Pumpkins
