Flamenco de Amor

If you follow this blog, you've probably noticed that I have a soft spot for pink flamingos; so you can imagine how excited I was to see a pink flamingo die and stamp set by Recollections at Michael's. Unfortunately, once I got it home I realized that the die faces in the opposite direction of the stamps. I worked around the issue, but it was annoying. Here, I cut the shape from a shiny pink paper & heat-embossed the stamp in neon pink. I also die-cut it from craft foam to pop it up.

The doily design was inspired by Desíre's folded circle embellishment; the white fronts are covered with a gray-dotted doily. The banner is decorated with tape and more of the gray-dotted doily; I stamped the sentiment (Latina Crafter) directly onto it with pink ink. The blue background paper is stamped in a platinum ink with a heart-shaped stamp from the same Latina Crafter set. The hearts are punched from a neon pink paper & inked with the platinum ink.

Rays of Love

A dear friend just gifted me a bunch of Valentine's Day-themed Washi tape and I'm having lots of fun using it.
I adhered the Washi directly onto a silvery cardstock and backed with with a lavender paper. The paper doily, originally white with gray dots, was inked with Amaryllis ink from Sweet Stamps. I stamped the sentiment in pink ink directly onto a pre-made pink tag, and attached it to the card with baker's twine.

Red, Black, White & Love

I recently won a gift certificate to Latina Crafter for the Cornycopia challenge at Connie Can Crop, and of course I grabbed one of their cute Flogger sets, as this cute puppy reminds me of our black & white Schnauzers.
Here's another take on the same design. The watermarked stamp on the red is from another Latina Crafter set I got with my winnings. The Washi tapes are from my stash; notice how the banners overlap the base card. I had tons of fun making these!

Goin' Square at the Crafter's Cafe

The Crafter's Cafe challenge theme for this fortnight is Square Cards. We're sponsored by AliciaBel and Robyn's Fetish. I used "Marina" by AliciaBel. It's this such a fun design?! I was reminded of my 8-year-old niece, who recently said to me, "I've always been a mermaid...in disguise!"

To make the background, I cut a double-sided DP into squares, glued them to a white base, and filled in the grid with double-sided tpae. I heat-embossed the tape with beige embossing powder. The design is inspired by sea-side, tiled tables. The sentiment (Doodle Pantry) is printed on yellow paper, folded & cut by hand (technique inspired by DIY drink umbrellas), distressed with yellow ink, and secured with a wooden skewer that I sliced in half lengthwise with a knife. The Marina image is printed on white paper & vellum, and colored with Copics & glitter pens.

I'm linking this card up to the following Challenges:

Happy New Year!

Wow, it's 2016! Here's what I was working on as the fireworks marked the occasion: this card for my husband to celebrate another wonderful year together:

The decorative tape was a Valentine's gift from said husband last year, and I backed it with paer to made the banners. The sentiment is a Fiskars stamp, the "16" is from a Dilo en Español set, and the pineapple & flamingo are from a Recollections set I bought (with an Xmas gift certificate!) during a crop with crafting friends at Michael's this week. They are heat-embossed in neon pink or gold. The base card is a black, glittered Core'Dinations cardstock. The flamingo was stamped on & die-cut from a gold foil paper.
