Purple & black ghostie

For this card, I purchased Magician Boo by Di's Digi Stamps:
The notch swing card and starburst buttons were designed in Sure Cut A Lot (SCAL) and cut with my Silhouette electronic die-cutting machine. All of my Notch Swing Cards are archived here

I printed the image onto shiny purple paper (Recollections) and heat-embossed it in purple (Stampendous). I did the same thing for the hat, but on shiny black paper. I also printed it on white cardstock, colored it with Copic markers and Sakura pens, and covered the ghost with glow-in-the dark glitter.

The background is a purple/black Core'Dinations paper that I embossed with Cuttlebug folder and sanded. The baker's twine and ribbon are from my stash.

The sentiment was made in InDesign with Chinchilla and
Chinchilla Dots.I printed it on shiny black paper and heat-embossed it with a glittery-white embossing powder. I traced the purple circle and cut it out with deckle scissors, and added border with purple Liquids Pearls.

This wonderful Lizard Wizard is a rubber stamp my Mom found somewhere and gifted to me. I've had it almost a year, and was so glad to have an opportunity to ink it up. This is probably my last Halloween card for this year; I sent it out today!

Baby's First Halloween

Although I have plenty of Halloween stuff already, I just had to buy this Haunted House Silhouette Cutting File. I thought it would be fun to use it with non-Halloween colors to make cards for very little trick-or-treaters.

I recently won some Di's Digi Designs via Love to Create (plus, I'll be Guest Designing with them on October 28!), so I used Di's sweet Batty Bears:

I cut out the images with deckle scissors and colored them with Copics. The hats and pumpkins were printed on different papers and pieced onto the image. I did the same with the bears' bodies, ran them through my sticker machine, and covered them with flocking (Stampendous). They are stuck onto the background with Action Wobbles.

The silhouettes were cut from Core'Dinations cardstocks, and the house-blackout layers were cut from Recollections pastels. The background of the pink card is from the Springtime sheet from Graphic 45's Secret Garden Collection. I believe the purple background paper is from Stampin' UP. The bats in the moons were cut out, but I colored them with Copics and placed them back into the silhouette.

I used Stickles to fill in the windows, and added pink or purple Liquid Pearls to the corners of the cards.

Although I cut the house-blackout layer on my Silhouette, I printed the sentiments and glued them behind the doors. The pink one says "Too Cute to Spook," and the purple one says "Happy 1st Trick or Treat." I'm sending the latter to our 10-month-old niece!

Cute as a Pumpkin

Howdy ya'll! I just wanted to remind you that the current "Too Cute" challenge at Card Cupids is running through October 31st. I hope you'll join the challenge and send in a card (it doesn't have to be the card you enter in the challenge). We're also have a bunch of Special Requests right now.

You may remember my DT card for this challenge, featuring a image from our sponsor Di's Digi Downloads. But I wanted to share another "Cute" card I made, with a Fresh Brewed Designs digi (our sponsor for Card Cupids' November 1st challenge, hint hint!):

The image is Jack's First Tooth (part of a three-digi set), and he's so cute that I traced him to make a shaped card. There is some paper piecing: the leaves are a Core'dinations cardstock; the front pumpkin is an orange Recollections paper embossed with a Cuttlebug texture folder; and the eyes & mouth are from a white cardstock that I colored with a florescent Copic (). I cut a leaf with a Sizzix die and heat-embossed the "Hello Friend" sentiment (Hero Arts) in shiny orange (Recollections). The actual digi has some swirly vines, but those got cut off so I replaced them with a vine ribbon. Easy and fun!

I'm entering this card into the following challenges:
  1. Forever Friends: Halloween / Autumn
  2. Kaboodle Doodles Challenge #141: Pumpkin Patch OR Anything Fall
  3. Papercraft Star Challenge #117: Halloween Pumpkin
  4. Scrapalicious: Halloween
  5. There She Goes Challenge #177: Fall / Halloween

This card would also be appropriate for the current Shaped Cards challenge at Pile It On (hurry, the deadline's today!). Hope you'll join us there as well as at Card Cupids!

Creating Cuteness at Card Cupids!

Today begins another fun challenge at Card Cupids (October 15-31). Our theme is Too Cute.

I used Little Drummer Ted by our sponsor Di's Digi Downloads, and the Critter Sketch #136 to make this simple-ish card:

I used Cuttlebug's All-in-One embossing system, which I can use with my beloved Big Shot (more info here), to deboss the sentiment. I made the tiny drumsticks by hand! The music paper is from actual sheet music.
