Ballsy Techniques

I'm up late on a Saturday night, listening to quite the Spring storm outside, so it's the perfect time to make a card using some of my favorite challenges & techniques.

The light yellow paper is embossed with a Cuttlebug folder in my BigShot, and then I stamped the sentiments (CAS-ual Fridays) with a bright dark blue ink. The line/dot border (Annabelle Stamps) was stamped twice & embossed with a clear yellow powder. I added 3 gemstones that I colored with a green marker. I added some splatters with a blue spray ink (Tattered Angels); instead of inking the paper, I made droplets on a flat surface & carefully placed the ink droplets for a random effect!

It's all just numbers!

My father-in-law's birthday in on April 1st...the first time he told me that, I thought he was joking! So I used an idea from his math-minded son to make him a punny birthday card:

He's turning 64, which is 2 to the 6th power! I used the font Chalkduster to create the numbers, and used the rub-on technique to transfer it onto the notebook-patterned die cut. The sentiment on the page is from a Dilo en EspaƱol set, and translates loosely to "Look who's turning...." The other sentiment is from an old StudioG set that I've had for almost a decade & have never inked up! I meat-embossed it in black onto a blue, metal tag. The background is a beige, patterned paper from Studio Calico that I inked with orange & yellow inks, and then covered with glitter embossing powder. I used Glossy Accents to adhere the little shaped glitter pieces. The Birthday Boy got a huge kick out of it!

Starry Stork -- Baby Cards with Crafting with Dragonflies

This fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies our theme is Baby Cards.

I used the fork trick to make the bow with seam binding from Paper Sweeties. I added extra color to the ribbon with my Frost Blue Copic marker, which also stiffened it. I tied the silver stork charm onto it.

I stamped the trio of stars in Orange (Craft Smart), Baja Blue & Coral (Quick Quotes) inks. The stamp was made with a bottle cork & wood veneer stars, as inspired by Hand Made Kultur.

The card base is from the cloud shaker card kit by Jillibean Soup. I used ZipDry silicon glue to wrap the plastic cloud with a coral-colored, polka-dotted ribbon from my stash. I filled the shaker with orange & blue glitter shapes (Recollections) and sealed it with a piece of scrap acetate.
