Flowers through the Window - Guest Desginer at Crafting by Designs

Back in June, I was super-inspired by my neighborhood and a sketch at Crafting by Designs, and was so pleased to have it chosen as a Spotlight project for that challenge as well as to be asked to be Guest Designer.

The theme this week at Crafting by Designs is Windows.

I used this beautiful digi stamp from Make It Crafty to create a Shaker Card filled with flower-shaped sequins.

My mom is visiting, and we've had tons of crafting fun. This card was made during a crafting retreat this weekend with friends at a hotel, and I didn't bring my Copics so I just used Mom's Sharpies. I'm pleased with the result and the company was fantastic! I also colored the white lace & wood embellishments with Sharpies. I added different colors of Flowersoft with Glossy Accents.

Challenges/Inspiration:
Crafting by Designs: Window
Chocolate, Coffee & Cards: A Flower In Your IMAGE
Morgan's Art World: Use 3 of Something (3 wood embellishments) + digi stamp
Sisterhood of the Snarky Stampers: S is for....Shaker

Thank you for visiting & I hope you'll join us at Crafting by Designs,

Gnome Place like Home -- Step Cards with Crafting with Dragonflies

This fortnight at Crafting with Dragonflies we're challenging you to make a Center- or Side-step Card. We have two sponsors, Handmade Harbour and Make It Crafty, and I used this whimsical Mushroom House digi stamp by Make It Crafty.

The Gnome with Toadstool digi stamp is a freebie from Spyder's Corner (thank you!) and I generated the sentiment myself (although I'm certain I've seen it as a stamp somewhere). The images are colored with Copics markers with details in glitter and gel pens. The googly-eyed ladybugs are brads from Michaels that I trimmed and glued on with Glossy Accents. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the corners.

Inspiration/Challenges:
City Crafter Challenge #223: Home Is Where The Heart Is (include a house)
Crafty Cardmakers: Fancy Folds
Fitztown Challenge: Step Card

Update: I was the lucky winner for Fitztown Challenge!

Thank you for visiting, and hope you'll join us at Crafting with Dragonflies,

Metallic Birthday with Crafting with Dragonflies

In honor of the First Birthday of the Crafting with Dragonflies Challenge Blog, our challenge for the next 2 weeks is Celebration! We have 3 amazing sponsors: Flourish with a Bling, Handmade Harbour, and Make it Crafty.

Also, we're having a DT Call at Crafting with Dragonflies. We're a small and fun team, and the challenge themes will spark your creativity! All you need to do to be considered for the team is to make a project featuring a Dragonfly, and link it up here.

I had lots of fun with this digi stamp, Metallic Flowers by Make It Crafty. The tag is from the set by Birthday Tags & Sentiments set by Handmade Harbour.

This is all paper-pieced; the only coloring is some detail with a glitter pen. The image was printed on a metallic papers (Recollections) and heat-embossed in coordinating powders (I have some tips from doing this here). I pieced it onto the silvery metallic base.

I matted the main image on a dark metallic paper and a tinfoil-covered cardstock. The card base is more of the light silver paper.

I cut the small gears with a Memory Box die and the larger gears with a Tim Holtz Alterations die. I also used some small metal gears from my stash. The tag is attached with a metal brad.

For the inside, I used an embossing diffuser with a gear-themed embossing folder. Then I inked it with a silver ink.

Come and Get It: Birthday
Incy Wincy Designs: Birthdays
Miriam's Crafting Blog Monthly Challenge: Metallics (2nd entry)
